Buying a Capri

So you want to fulfil that wish - good on ya

Firstly, its got to be done and if you take your time and do your research and homework, there is no reason why you won’t find one in good condition but leaving you room to still fettle with her.
Here’s some information I found on the internet that helped me.

Do and Don'ts

Do

Don't

  • have a budget in mind
  • decide on the model
  • decide on colour/s
  • consider distance to view – you want a Capri then be preapred to travel
  • get to know OLD capri’s
  • research what to look for (I will of course help you here)
  • look for signs of cosmetic repairs
  • look for oil leaks
  • check MOT history
  • check receipts and that they match car history
  • ask as many questions as you can and reask in a different way to see if response is the same.
  • Check the dash. New repairs are great but give it one hot day and you will see.
  • test drive the car fully and properly. Check for gearbox noise and running gear noise.
  • test everything as replacement switches are not cheap.
  •  get right uner the car – you need to confirm a solid chasis.
  •  check if full bear metal respray or WOP (window out paint).
  • do not let your heart take over your budget
  • do not buy the first one you see
  • don’t take anything as a given unless backed up with proof/evidence
  • don’t be afriad to ask dumb questions.
  •  don’t be afraid to Walk Away. You dont need to commit to anything.
